Welcome to the TrailerTrader inventory training! In this video, you will learn how to enter units into the system as well as make modifications to them such as: deleting, archiving, as well as changing their status so that your inventory will be visible on the TrailerTrader website.
Let’s first take a look at how to add a unit. To add inventory, you’ll need to click on the “Add Inventory” icon located next to the search bar. Once you do that, the system will bring us to this form where you can fill out all the appropriate information that pertains to the unit.
When filling out the form, it is important to carefully select the type of inventory that you are looking for right away. The form will slightly change depending on what is selected on this field and it cannot be changed later, meaning, the form will have to be re-entered. This is the only field in this form that cannot be edited after the form is saved.
Once the field is filled out, you can move forward and fill out the other sections of the form, making sure to especially fill out the fields that have red asterisks on them, as it indicates that they are required.
A quick tip when filling out the form is to take advantage of our auto populate tool. This feature will fill out some of the fields for you so that you don’t have to enter everything manually. To use it, simply select the manufacturer of the unit you want to add, then select what unit you would like to add from the auto populate dropdown.
Please note that depending on what information the manufacturer advertises online, there might not be specific information for some units. If you notice there is a unit that is not on the auto populate tool, but is on the manufacturer’s website, feel free to reach out to our team as we are able to update the database in the system upon request.
Under Trailer or Truck Bed Details, you will notice that there are different price fields you can fill out. For the first field, please note that if you choose not to add a price, you may simply enter 0 and it will reflect as “Call For Price” on TrailerTrader.
If you would like to enter a sales price, make sure to maintain the original price in the “price” field and the system will ensure that it is crossed out for you on your unit’s post so that the sale can be emphasized to customers.
As you scroll down, you will see more options of sections to be filled out; however, those will not be required.
Under Trailer or Truck Bed Status, you may enter the status of your unit as well as whether you’d like it to show on TrailerTrader or not. If you need a minute to fill out the form prior to publishing it to public platforms, you may click “no” under Show On Website And Classifieds and the unit will show on the main page of the inventory backend however it will not be available for customers.
The Admin Details section gives you an opportunity to add information that you would like to keep for internal use only. None of the fields on this section will show on the website.
The next section on the form is the Website Configuration portion. The “Is Featured” field is not relevant for the TrailerTrader website so we can skip this one. Now, if you would like to highlight that you have a unit on sale, you will have the ability to mark units as “On Special” and it will be reflected on your post.
Another feature you will notice in this area is the Inventory Page Banner. Our team has the ability to create up-to 10 personalized overlays for you. As we create personalized overlays, they would be visible for you under the dropdown so that you can select the overlay of choice for any new units you create.
“Add Another Video” gives you the ability to add videos to the Details page of your unit. Simply copy the embed code from the video hosting provider, paste it.
Before saving your unit, don’t forget to add images that you feel would best represent the product you are selling. There is no limit to the number of units you can add so feel free to add as many as needed.
Once you are satisfied, simply click on “Save Inventory” and your unit will show up on the main inventory page.
Now that we’ve gone over how to add a unit, let’s take a further look into how to manage your units on the main inventory page.
As you can see here, there are different fields that allow you to take a look at your inventory at a glance. You can see fields such as the stock number, the title, the category, as well as the manufacturer. Note that you can also make quick changes utilizing this section as well, opposed to having to re-enter into the form.
On the far right side, we also have the Actions dropdown where you can duplicate, remove, archive, and print unit information. We always recommend archiving a unit over removing it as it gives you the ability to recover the unit whenever you’d like. And if you have many units to archive or remove, an alternative would be to click on the little boxes to the left of each unit, and click on “archive selected” or “remove selected” depending on how you would like to move forward.
Lastly, if you are looking for a unit in particular, the easiest way to do so is to utilize our search bar where you can add any relevant keywords and it should lead you to the unit or the group of units that you are looking for.
