Troubleshooting Bulk Upload Errors
Problem: Units within the CSV are not being added, and appear to be ignored despite no error messages.
- Solution: Find the stock number(s) of the units that appear to not be imported, and search those stock number(s) within your archived inventory. Units with the same stock number(s) in the CSV likely exist within your archived units. When this occurs, the archived unit(s) are updated, but are not un-archived. Simply un-archive the units.
Problem: Images are not importing
- Solution #1: Check that the 'append images' column is present and set to 'yes' or '1' for the units you wish to add additional images to. You must have a column with the label 'append images' for the 'images' column to take effect.
- Solution #2: Check that the URLs are accessible to the public. They must not be behind a log-in screen or any other type of login prompt. Additionally, no error messages are issued when the URLs are inaccessible, therefore it is possible that the URLs are simple non-existent.
Problem: Old images are not being removed when updating units
- Solution: By default, there is no way to remove images using the bulk uploader. This is normal behavior. By request, we can change this behavior as long as you are aware of the implications. Simply contact your account manager and request that your bulk uploads update &ldash; and not append &ldash; images.
Problem: Some fields aren't updating or being added, even though most of the other fields are working
- Solution: Check and ensure you do not have a header column misspelled. A single-character typo will result in the entire column being ignored. For example, typo'ing the weight header as 'wieght' will result in all weights being discarded during your bulk upload. Since the bulk uploader is designed to accept CSVs from various software, this will result in no warnings being issued.
Problem: Categories are incorrect (especially for vehicle-related bulk updates, or ATV trailers)
- Solution: Review this page's documentation regarding categories. The categories have been re-worked to prevent confusion between vehicles and trailer categories. Use the less-ambiguous updated categories such as 'trailer.atv' to ensure that the correct category has been applied.
Problem: After updating or adding units, the "Manufacturer" is 'lost'. The drop-down on the inventory edit page says "Please Select" OR "After updating or adding units, my website has manufacturers doubled-up such as "Haulmark" and "Haulmark Trailers"
- Solution #1: Check that the manufacturer is spelled exactly as it is on the inventory edit page. For example, within the inventory add/edit page "Haulmark" is presented on the manufacturer drop-down as "Haulmark", and not "Haulmark Trailers". If you enter "Haulmark Trailers" on your CSV file, it will allow it. However, when it tries to find the manufacturer you selected, if it is not exactly the same, it doesn't know which you selected. Another example, "E-Z Loader Trailers" must be entered as exactly that. If you were to enter "EZ Loader Trailers" (without the dash), this problem may occur.
- Solution #2: If the manufacturer isn't present on the inventory add/edit page's "Manufacturer" drop-down, contact your account representative to have the manufacturer added to our manufacturer database.
- Solution #3: If this is occurring frequently for a specific manufacturer, or you are processing automatically generated CSVs, you may simply contact your account representative and request to add a manufacturer alias. An alias will auto-correct small presentation differences for manufacturers, such as in the "E-Z Loader Trailers" example in Solution #1.
Problem: The bulk uploader claims that I have duplicate stock numbers. I don't have duplicate stocks!
- Under normal circumstances, having more than one unit with the same stock number is not possible but occasionally it can accidentally occur through extenuating circumstances.
- Since the bulk uploader uses the stock numbers to determine whether to add or update, and which unit to update, if you have more than one unit with the same stock number, that stock number cannot be updated through bulk CSV uploads. Simply remove one of the units with the same stock number by searching for the stock number in question.
- If it appears that there is only one unit with that stock number in your inventory, and the bulk uploader is giving you this error message, please check your archived units. For example, if you ended up with stock "X123" within the un-archived units, and stock "X123" within your archived units, this error message would occur as expected.
